Doctorate
The doctorate consists of a scientific work, the so-called doctoral thesis (dissertation) and an oral examination (disputation) taken after completion of the dissertation. After successful completion of the written and oral doctoral examinations, the Faculty of Mathematics, Engineering and Natural Sciences generally awards the academic degree of Doctor of Natural Sciences (Dr. rer. nat.).
